The View from my kitchen

This is the window about my kitchen sink. My husband built a shelf for my African Violets. They are all in bloom so it makes for a lovely view.

Hydrangea are done

My hydrangea for the BOM that I'm doing are done. This has been a huge challange for me, I'm not one for applique.

I am very pleased with the way they turned out, and also thrilled with the way the zig zag looks.

I might even do more applique.

I hate applique!!

Oh my, what have I gotten myself into? This Aussie friend of mine twisted my arm so hard that I just couldn't tell her no! LOL Now I find myself doing this BOM pattern with lots of applique.

May's block starts the appliqueing process. The designer, Beth Ferrier has some great tips on how to speed up the applique process.

But, this is still going to be a challenge for me. I hope this project gets me over my fear of applique, if it doesn't I guess this will be a wip (work in progress) for a looooonnnnngggggg time. LOL

OH MY~~What a weekend

It has been a crazy weekend!

Started out on Friday, I opened the e-mail and there was two orders for patterns. No big deal, counted them out, printed invoices and off to the post office I went. Saturday I got up and opened e-mail and found three more orders for patterns lol. I was feeling really pleased, counted them out, sent the invoices and off to the post office I went.

Well, this morning I opened my e-mail, and there they were. 6 more orders for patterns, for a total of 72 pattern. LOL at this point, I am a little over whelmed and have recruited help. LOL
Randy and the girls helped me count out, package up, and I did the invoices. So, first thing tomorrow off to the post office I will go. :)

I'm almost afraid to open my e-mail this afternoon. But, to be honest, it's so rewarding to see others enjoying my pattern and all of my hard work is finally PAYING off.
Have a great day

Quilt for a special friend

This is a Chemo quilt that I am making for a dear friend of mine. I used Moda's new fabric line, "Maypole" and a white on white. It is such a nice bright fabric, it's bound to cheer anyone up.
I made 12 blocks and set them 3x4 and added two borders. It's the perfect size for her to take with her to her chemo treatments.

Two different blocks done

The first few installments of my my Pinwheels & Posies BOM are done. This project is so much fun and the directions are so well written.
I'm now waiting for the next set of instructions to be posted.

It's been a while

Gosh, it's been a while since my last post. So much has been happening.
Where do I start?

My daughter's friend wanted a vintage prom dress. She bid on a few she found on e-bay but was out bid each time. So, I offered to make her a dress. We found a McCalls pattern that was printed in 1952.

We went shopping for fabric and she found some lovely fabric. The dress is almost done; she comes tomorrow night for a final fitting. Oh my it's been a while since I have sewn other then quilts.

Bear my gelding was chased threw a fence and received some nasty wounds.

He is doing much better now and we are are even back to riding.

I started my Pinwheels and Posies BOM. http://applewd.com/BOM/page1.html
WOW the colors are wonderful and the pattern is so well written I am so excited about this project.

The pattern I had published is really starting to take off. The printing is now on it's third run. Wow, what a thrill.

Now on to some sad news. A dear friend of mine has been diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. She has had surgery and is recovering at home. Soon she will start her Chemotherapy and Radiation. So, I wanted her to have a special hug from me and I started a chemo quilt.
I'm using Moda's new line, called "Maypole" http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/ItemList--Moda-Maypole-By-April-Cornell--m-782
It's nice and bright, and I'm using a white on white.

Well, that should catch you up to speed as to what is going on here.
I hope all is going well in your corner of the world.
Hope to see you again
Penny
