Churn Dash

This is my current project. The center Churn Dash blocks are only 3 inch finished squares. I don't paper piece so those were a challange. The next set of blocks are 6 inch finished Churn Dash. Now, I am in the process of adding 9 inch Churn Dash blocks set on point again. The last border will be 12 inch finished Churn Dash blocks. I am leaving open blocks, setting trianles and wide borders to show off fancy quilting.

I will be adding more photos as the quilt grows. So, check back often.

Oh a Snow Day cost me a ton of money lol

Well, we have about 5 inches of new snow and the school was closed today. So, I took the girls, Jessica 14 and Samantha 17 shopping for their special dresses.

Samantha is 17 and a Jr in high school. This year is her Jr. prom her first formal, and she picked out the following dress.

So, a few hundred dollars later, both girls are happy and my shopping is done.

Cathedral Window update

Well, tonight I measured my CW quilt and as of 10pm it is 64 inches x 80 inches.

In order to enter it in the county fair it must measure at least 76 inches x 86 inches, it's getting closer each week. It's my goal to have the foundation, muslin blocks, the size I need for the fair by the end of next week. It will have to be 17 blocks by 20 blocks. Each block is 4.5 inches. Once the foundation is the size I need I will finish filling in the charm squares, or windows.

I also did the math, with some help from a few friends, and it has 304 charms, so far. I'm not sure what the total charm squares will be, I just know it will be a lot!! lol

Cathedral Window Quilt Lecture

Throughout history, churches and cathedrals with their elegant structure, wooden interior and breathtaking stained glass windows have inspired many artistes.

The Cathedral Window Quilt is one such art form that was inspired from the beauty of small pieces of colored glass found in a church window.

Penny Streeter, long time quilter, will walk you through the history of the Cathedral Window Quilt and describe the mystery that goes into making such a work of art.

This open to the public journey held in the Bradford County Library Conference room starts at 1pm Thursday February 15th. If you have made your own Cathedral Window Quilt and would like to share, please feel free to bring it with you.
